ACOFPCA’50 Adds No-Cost Hands-On Venous Ultrasonography Workshops for Convention Attendees

Two limited-seat sessions will offer practical point-of-care ultrasound training during the ACOFPCA’50 Annual Convention & Scientific Seminar at the Disneyland Hotel.

Anaheim, California — The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians of California is pleased to announce the addition of two no-cost hands-on venous ultrasonography workshop sessions during the ACOFPCA’50 Annual Convention & Scientific Seminar, taking place July 29–August 2, 2026, at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California.

The Ultrasound Workshop: Venous Ultrasonography will be led by Ehab Mady, DO, FSVM, RPVI, Medical Director of the Vascular Services Program at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. The workshop is designed for physicians and clinical learners who want practical, point-of-care ultrasound experience focused on lower-extremity venous anatomy, scanning technique, clinical interpretation, and DVT evaluation.

Each 30-minute session is offered at no additional cost, but seating is strictly limited to 20 registrants per session. Separate registration is required to reserve a seat, and attendees are asked to register for only one session.

Workshop Focus

  • Basic principles and appropriate clinical applications of venous ultrasonography.
  • Identification of proximal lower-extremity venous anatomy.
  • Initial management of acute proximal lower-extremity deep vein thrombosis.
  • Use of point-of-care ultrasonography to support high-quality, cost-effective care and improved patient safety.

CME Credit: Each session is planned for 0.5 AOA Category 1-A, 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, and 0.5 AAFP Prescribed Credit.

There is no additional fee to participate for ACOFPCA'50 registrants, but registration is required. Attendees should register for only one session to allow more participants the opportunity to attend.

ACOFPCA to Present Hands-On OMT Workshop on Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury

AOBFP-approved workshop provides osteopathic physicians with practical training in concussion and traumatic brain injury care.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians of California (ACOFPCA) will present a hands-on osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) workshop, “OMT Next Level: Concussions & Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI),” during its 50th Annual Convention & Scientific Seminar at the Disneyland Hotel.

The workshop is designed for osteopathic physicians seeking to enhance clinical skills while meeting Osteopathic Continuous Certification (OCC) requirements. The session incorporates case-based instruction with guided hands-on application.

The session will be led by Natalie Nevins, DO, MSHPE, MSS, Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education at Touro University California.

Participants will review diagnostic considerations in concussion and traumatic brain injury and practice cranial, cervical, and lymphatic OMT techniques aimed at supporting neurologic recovery and improving patient outcomes.

The workshop is approved by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP) and provides four AOBFP-approved hours toward OCC Level 3 requirements through the Hands-On Training Pathway.

Posters will be judged in two categories: original research and case reports. Monetary awards will be given to the top three winners in each category.

Important Dates

  • Abstract submission deadline: May 1, 2025
  • Poster setup: July 26, 2025, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
  • Judging: July 26, 2025, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
  • Winners announced: July 26, 2025, 4:00 PM
  • Posters must remain on display until 4:00 PM
  • Posters left after 5:00 PM will not be the responsibility of ACOFPCA

Submission Guidelines & Competition Rules

  • ACOFPCA provides a 4'x4' space on a standard cork board.
  • Posters must adhere to all submission criteria.
  • The submitter or a designated representative must be present at the competition.
  • No honoraria or travel expenses will be provided.
  • The submitter is responsible for all costs related to producing and displaying the poster.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the lead author.
  • ACOFPCA reserves the right to publish abstracts of all poster presentations.

The JOFP-CA is a publication dedicated to advancing the field of osteopathic family medicine, and we are seeking enthusiastic and committed members to help us maintain the high standards of quality and relevance that our readers expect.

As an At-Large Editorial Board Member and Peer Reviewer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Attending up to two Editorial Board meetings per year. These meetings can be conducted either via Zoom or in person.
  • Serving as a peer reviewer for up to two articles a year. Your expertise and critical evaluation will help ensure the scholarly excellence of the journal's content.
