Jessica Hadley, OMS Honored with Ethan R. Allen, DO, FACOFP Award by ACOFPCA

Anaheim, CA — The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians of California (ACOFPCA) proudly announces that Jessica Hadley, a 4th-year osteopathic medical student at Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine, has received the prestigious Ethan R. Allen, DO, FACOFP Award.

This award celebrates exceptional students who have matched into family medicine and who embody Dr. Allen’s dedication to osteopathic philosophy, patient care, and mentorship. As Daniel R. Wilson, MD, PhD shared, "Dr. Allen has had a remarkable career in every respect, notably 65 years as a medical practitioner as well as a superb teacher and model of professionalism to generations of students. Dr. Allen is a true gentleman and a fine physician who had a pivotal role in the renewal of the osteopathic profession in California."

Jessica’s dedication to compassionate, patient-centered care and her leadership within the osteopathic community beautifully reflect the spirit of Dr. Allen’s legacy. In recognition of her achievements, Jessica will receive a $2,000 award to support her journey into family medicine.

Anaheim, CA — The California Chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFPCA) is proud to announce that Eva Mathews, DO, Resident at CMHS Health, has been selected to present her original research poster at the ACOFPCA’49 Resident and Student Forum Poster Competition.

Her original research, “Comparative Study of Colon Cancer Screening: Cologuard vs. Colonoscopy in a Resident Clinic”, offers important insights into the effectiveness and practical considerations of different screening methods in a primary care setting.

The Resident and Student Forum will be held at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, CA, during ACOFPCA’49 — "The Best CME in the West at the Happiest Place on Earth" — a national gathering of family physicians, residents, and students.

Layla Mazdeyasnan's abstract, “Pharmacological Options for Managing Buring Mouth Syndrome” was selected as a contestant in this year’s Resident and Student Forum Poster Competition.

Steven Barag, DO, FACOFP, Honored with the 2024 ACOFP Master Preceptor Award

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians of California (ACOFP-CA) proudly announces Steven Barag, DO, FACOFP, as a recipient of an esteemed 2024 ACOFP Master Preceptor Award. This accolade recognizes Dr. Barag's sustained commitment to excellence in the training, education, and mentoring of medical students, family nurse practitioner students and physician assistant students in family medicine.

The ACOFP Master Preceptor Awards honor preceptors like Dr. Barag who demonstrate exceptional dedication to the development of future medical students, family nurse practitioner students and physician assistant students . These awards are designed to acknowledge practicing physicians who play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of medical professionals.

Dr. Barag, a Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine graduate, has devoted five decades to family medicine. As the medical director of Aureus Medical Group and principal investigator of Rancho Cucamonga Clinical Research, Dr. Barag has conducted over 75 trials, showcasing his commitment to innovation and excellence in patient care.

In addition to his clinical endeavors, Dr. Barag is a clinical professor of family medicine for WUCOMP, Touro, and CHSU. He has held esteemed positions, including chief of staff on the board of trustees at San Antonio Regional Hospital. He is the past president, current convention chair and treasurer for ACOFP California.
