FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ACOFP Launches De-Stress Pain Management CME Pathways to Meet 2025 DEA Requirements

Chicago, IL — The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) announced the expansion of its De-Stress Pain Management program into three flexible CME pathways that help clinicians satisfy DEA-related training
while sharpening whole-person, evidence-based approaches to pain and safer prescribing.

New in 2025: Three Ways to Earn CME Toward DEA Requirements

Self-assessment example (4 CMEs) — concise, case-based practice with immediate takeaways.

Full online curriculum (8 CMEs) — comprehensive, end-to-end training for deeper mastery.

Highlights module (2.5 CMEs) — a fast-track option covering high-yield updates.

Built for Busy Clinicians, Grounded in Whole-Person Care

Each pathway is online and self-paced, blending micro-learning, practical scenarios, and downloadable tools for immediate clinical use. The series emphasizes safer opioid stewardship, communication strategies for patients with pain, stress, or substance-use
risk, and documentation that aligns with DEA-related expectations.

“Did you know this series is not just for DOs – or ACOFP members?
The course is FREE and it is available to practicing physicians, residents, students, nurse practitioners, physician associates, and more.
We want to expose our students earlier than later to the importance of pain management. We ensure they are familiar and curious so that when they enter rotation in the 3rd or 4th year, they are comfortable talking to their preceptors about these concepts.”
— Robert Agnello, DO, FACOFP
Assistant Professor of Family and Manipulative Medicine, Campbell University
